Going to camp is a very important part of Scout life.
Cubs
and Scouts
go to the main Borough Camp which is held each year at Walton Firs in
Surrey normally on the first weekend in July. They can stay overnight at
this camp.
Beavers
can also go this Borough Camp but only during the day - they cannot stay
overnight.
Scouts also go
on a variety of weekend camps throughout the year - most under canvas but
some trips are taken to youth hostels.
Scouts can
also go on an annual week long summer camp during the school summer
holidays. In 2005, 29 Explorers, Scouts and Leaders went to Canada for two weeks.
In 2008, the Scouts camped with the District in the Scout Association
Centenary year and visited the International Jamboree in Essex.
In 2009, the Scouts camped in Dorset and this
year are going to Luxembourg for their summer camp.
Camps are always run by Leaders but
parents are very welcome to come along too. There will always be plenty
for you to do! Please contact
Ray Gill, Group Scout Leader if you would be willing to consider
helping out in this way.
